Swapmeet Day / Beach Day

I can with no hesitation say that going to the swapmeet consists of this mostly of this

Navigating huge piles. Mostly junk. You have to sift through these to find the hidden treasures. Sometimes there's no treasures : /

Tons of people, most of them in your way, pushing something that will get in your way.

Inevitable exhaustion and or heat stroke and or insanity

To cool off, we went to Huntington beach.

Wearing the dress my mother deemed not wearable anywhere else but the beach (she hates the dress)

We were able to successfully find her bathing suit for a whopping two dollars at our prior visit to the swapmeet from vendors who did not know what they were selling. Two for a dollar, match a top and/or bottom. There were mostly bottoms. But we did find this matching Calvin Klein two piece for her. It's of sunbathing women in the 20's with old school bathing suits. I wish it had fit me. Since the swapmeet sun was also scorching our eyes, that same day she bought those sunglasses for a dollar. Not bad for orange-sicle wayfarers.

We did bring home horrible sunburns, mostly because Diana decided to not put sunblocks on certain parts of my back. Thank you.

Bored

I was going to make a regular post for today. But something got me thinking about my videos, and I started tinkering with them. At first, totally unsuccessfully. Then after an hour or so, this is what came out in the end.

Europe 2009 from Eli on Vimeo.

Not too shabby I think for my first video ever. It's not the highest of qualities, but I only had a point and shoot to do this with.

Expect more of these in the near future now that I now what to use.

San Fran

I was browsing some blogs and I came across one I can't remember anymore but saw how she had photos of herself at Dolores Park in the Mission in San Francisco. It made me miss the place terribly, and I stole Diana's photos she took of us there pre Europe. We flew out SF airport so we had a day there to enjoy and chill out before we took our trip.

All I can think about is vacation again...

Soon it's going to be either a week in SF or NYC, or if that doesn't work out a road trip to who knows where.

Thrifting progress

It really only has been recently that I have started thrifting again like I used to. Although, if you can believe it, it's with a more distinguishing eye. Even moreso than before. And I have left many times, weeks through out, without purchasing anything. I went one time I broke down a little, I got myself a dress that I found too trendy at first, but bought it in the end.  I saw it and felt a little to odd wearing a strapless dress, I rarely do. But everyone else is, I mean half the dresses at Forever 21 are strapless so there must be a demand. Plus, it's hot as hell.

Dress: French Connection, thrifted. Belt: flea market vintage. Sandals: Bershka (my favorite obviously)

Now that my hair is long enough, I've really enjoyed wearing my hair like this quite a bit. I get many funny stares. I look like I have an apple on my head but it keeps me cool and I like it.
